From November 12-14, 2015 Farm to School BC had the great fortune of attending the first ever Canadian National School Food conference in Montreal. During the conference, it was announced that Farm to Cafeteria Canada and the Whole Kids Foundation will be launching a new funding opportunity for schools in Canada, supporting the development of Farm to School programs. $450 000 in Farm to School grants will be allocated to schools in Ontario and BC, where Whole Foods currently has stores operating. These grants, valued at up to $10 000 each, will help bring the harvest to schools – engaging students and community in gardening, cooking, preserving, purchasing and serving healthy local food at school.

Farm to School BC is working with Farm to Cafeteria Canada to put the final touches on the Farm to School Grant guidelines. The guidelines and grant application will be found on Farm to Cafeteria Canada’s website soon! Inquiries about this funding opportunity can be directed here.
