LEAP BC™: Literacy, Education, Activity and Play

LEAP BC™, managed by Decoda Literacy Solutions, is a set of resources that promotes healthy child development through physical movement, healthy eating, language development and early literacy. LEAP BC™ integrates Literacy, Education, Activity and Play, and is designed for families, caregivers and early learning practitioners who engage with young children.

There are several sets of activity cards within the LEAP BC™ family of resources:

Move™ – integrates physical activity, early language development and healthy eating for infants and toddlers, from birth to 3 years of age.

Hop™ – has the same focus as Move but is geared towards preschoolers from 3 to 5 years of age.

Talk™ – is a series of illustrated cards with activities encouraging early literacy and language development in infants and toddlers.

Food Flair™ – activities help create environments that support healthy eating for young children from birth to age 5.

All of these resources can be downloaded as PDFs from www.leapbc.decoda.ca.

LEAP BC™ resources are also available in French, as Grandir CB™ (www.grandir.decoda.ca).

LEAP BC™ was created by 2010 Legacies Now, with support from the Province of British Columbia. In June 2011, management of LEAP BC™ transferred to Decoda Literacy Solutions.
